Vespa Bravo | MOPED OF THE DAY

Vespa Bravo

Let’s start 2021 off with a clean gloss black Vespa Bravo from Germany (https://www.instagram.com/puch_nick/).  The Bravo is the second moped model for Vespa.  It was first released in 1977 and was different from the popular Ciao model.  It had the same two-stroke rotary Vespa engine as the Ciao.

Some new design ideas on the bravo that transferred to other models are the subframe/swingarm.  This subframe allows for the engine, pedal crank, and rear-wheel to be attached to it.  Then the subframe attaches to the frame of the moped.  I believe this was a design choice so Vespa could add a rear suspension.  The Ciao has a rigid rear end with a spring seat, no Ciao model ever had rear shocks.

The frame is built of a sturdy square tube and a small gas tank that can be removed.   It also has traditional front fork suspension, with most models being equipped with hydraulic forks.  This is another of my favorite mopeds with the drawback in my opinion being the small gas tank.  The small tank looks great but limits the range out of all the Vespa moped models I can think of.
