The Puch Magnum is an iconic moped that was produced by the Austrian company Puch.  Puch produced the moped between 1978 and 1979, specifically for the North American market. With its top-tank design, the Magnum stands out from other Puch models.  The Magnum bears a resemblance to a small motorcycle.

PUCH MAGNUM MODELS

The Magnum was available in two models: the XK and the MKII. The base model XK came with spoked wheels and Puch’s 1-speed E50 engine, while the MKII was equipped with the 2-speed Z50 engine and oil injection. A rare variant of the MKII, known as the MKII LTD, featured additional amenities like key ignition, turn signals, and a front fairing with a windshield.

ENGINE

The Puch Magnum’s engine is a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-stroke unit with a displacement of 48.8 ccs. It has a top speed of 30 mph and a 2-speed automatic transmission for the ZA50 engine. The E50 engine is a single-speed. The moped’s drivetrain features a chain drive, and it has drum brakes on both the front and rear wheels.
