Sometimes you have a vision for a moped and sometimes you execute on that vision.  Andrew did that with his 1978 Pinto.  This is his vision for “The best Pinto”.

Andrew’s first start with mopeds was a Velo Solex 3800 that he rebuilt and used for college.  Solex mopeds are cool he wanted a faster moped.  There are people building fast Velo Solex mopeds, it can be done.

He loves the look of the Pinto and Swinger moped models.  So much so that Andrew picked two up on the same day.  This is one of those two Pinto mopeds. His first version of the pinto was a modest but quick Puch E50 setup.  It had a 70cc K-Star kit with a Dellorto PHBG 17 mm carburetor and Proma exhaust.  Still new to the moped game, he blew it up within a week.

ENGINE

Puch E50 |  Ported Polini 64cc kit | Dio Vforce block | Dellorto PHBG 21mm DS Race | Chrome mesh air filter | MLM BK100 exhaust | Straight cut clutch gears | Ceramic bearings | Jammer clutch | Custom cut O-ring head matched for Polini | HPI CDI |

After the engine fails of its previous version, he decided to overhaul the engine. The E50 was rebuilt with ceramic bearings, straight cut gears and that is when he installed the Indian Mira Starflake wheels. Two years later from the first engine failure and now the Pinto runs and looks great.  The Pinto reaches top speeds of 55 mph and is his favorite moped from his fleet.
