Carabela Moto Pony 60

Carabela Moto Pony 60, made in Mexico, is a mini bike with an Italian inspired engine.  Carabela licensed the engine design from Minarelli.  The two engines share a lot of similarities but are different in displacement.  The Carabella has a larger 60cc displacement as compared to the Minarelli 49cc.

10″ 6 spoke two piece wheels | Mini inverted front forks | Rectangular headlight | Metal fenders | Steel frame | Steel gas tank | Plastic side covers |

Carabela used the same frame on a step through model.  The tank on those are located under the seat.  The Moto Pony 60  was available in a “formula” model.  It has a full vintage race faring, different seat, and no headlight or taillight.  MOPED in Chicago has on one display in their shop.

Cylinder porting from the Carabela is different than the porting on Minarelli V1 engines.  Some other differences include the clutch mechanism and ignition.  The stator and magneto are different from the Carabela to the Minarelli.  The size of the engine and mounting are the same.  The Carabela is said to have a bit more torque than the V1, but the V1 has a better clutch mechanism.
