Full Face Retro Inspired Motorcycle Helmets

At most of the moped rallies I’ve gone to, I’ve noticed at least one if not more classic or retro inspired motorcycle helmets being used.  The most popular being the Biltwell Gringo Helmet. It’s a retro-inspired helmet that has been kept simple with no vents and/or extras.  I’ve compiled a list of similar styling helmets from amazon some priced higher than the Gringo and others more affordable. Links provided to all our finds and we are not affiliated with any of the companies of the products listed.

BILTWELL GRINGO

The Gringo is one of the more popular helmets I’ve seen. I own one myself and love the simple design and padding it comes with.  It works well with glasses and has mounts for a shield as it does not come with a visor.  The Gringo runs for about $159.95 here and comes in different colors.

BILTWELL GRINGO S

The updated version of the Gringo helmet is the Gringo S.  The update of the S removed the three snaps from the top front of the original Gringo.  The snaps are not needed because the Gringo S comes with a removable visor and a snap on the side to keep the visor lid down. The Gringo S goes for $199.95 here.

BELL BULLITT

Bell released the Star helmet in the late 60’s, it was the first full face helmet. The Bullitt is based on the classic bell Star helmet.  The Gringo S and Bullitt are similar in they both are clean simple sleek helmets and both come with visor/shields.  The Bell helmet has a bigger opening in the face that offers a good view and less of a blind spot because of it. The Bell Bullitt has some vent holes in the front of the helmet that do not take away from the simple design. It also has very nice padding and riders have said they like how it does not press on their cheeks. The Bullitt is on the higher price point but a great working and looking helmet.  We found it for the retail price of $399.95 with free shipping and in various styles and colors here.

SIMPSON STREET BANDIT

One helmet that isn’t really new but has seen some growth in popularity at moped rallies is the Simpson Street Bandit.  The Street Bandit is another classic and simple clean designed helmet. The design has a great design that reminds me of The Predator helmet that gives it a tough style in my opinion. The helmet has enlarged eye port area for vision, vents in the chin area, and top vents that can be opened or closed.  Like the Gringo S and Bullitt, it also has a removable visor/shield for eye protection. It is priced between the Bullitt and Gringo S but available in a few color options.  We found it with free shipping for $299.68 here.

TORC T1

A recent helmet with the same retro motorcycle helmets design element as all these listed is the T1 from TORC helmets.  Fiberglass tri-composite shell, front chin vents with metal mesh, removable shield, faux suede liner, and padded chin strap.  The vents are not noticeable, it has a large eye opening as well, and the padding looks great. Currently available in 5 colorways the helmet is priced well at $189.99 here.

CONQUER

Keeping with the same design ideas here are some alternatives.  This Conquer helmet has a 4 1/2 star rating, same design features, clean sleek simple. Vents with mesh grills, and a visor/shield. Lightweight fiberglass composite shell construction, Anti-scratch, flame resistant shield with tear off post. Priced lower than the Gringo S its priced at $169.95 here.

CRG SPORTS RETRO MOTORCYCLE HELMETS

The ATV-1, ATV-2, ATV-4, ATV-5, & ATV-6 from CRG Sports has a number of retro motorcycle helmets with a similar design to the Simpson at a much lower price point. Fiberglass reinforced plastic shell, lightweight and high impact resistant, scratch resistant and detachable face shied. The starting price point for the ATV-1 model is around $105 to $125 for their “flaked out” colorways in other models with some design changes.  In all these helmets look sweet and have a 4 1/2 star rating.  Below are the models listed with images of their design variations.

WOLJAY

This last helmet looks very similar to the Biltwell Gringo, and is at the lowest price point. Advanced ABS shell, Lightweight, durable thermoplastic shell, Hand-Sewn removable brushed liner, DOT approved.  It comes in a few colorways and designs Green, White, Gold, Red, Silver, Star.
